Dear Future Partner,
My wish for you is that you never self abandon yourself to people please what you think my wants or needs are. That if you have to choose between disappointing yourself, and disappointing me, you choose me over you. That if you have to decide between chasing your goals and dreams and showing up for me, you choose to show up for yourself. Because you know that I will always support the kind of growth that leads to your alignment with your highest self even if that negates my own temporary superficial pleasures. My wish for you is that you know if speaking your truth is going to hurt my feelings, you choose to anyway. For as adults we are not responsible for how our truth makes another feel. In fact our number one job in any relationship is to stand in, reckon with, and abide by our own authenticity. It is not our job to demystify and decode anthers. Rather to make the choice. To believe. To Trust. To have the courage not to fall, but to lift one another up. To honor the agreement we have made, whatever that looks like; that is entirely up to us. This is what will breed respect and create sustenance.
I hope that you know I am out here intentionally aspiring and cultivating a partnership that heightens and elevates my growth. And that I’m not settling or compromising, or negotiating parts of myself that will lead to disappointment. Because I know you exist. That you’re possible. And that you’re worth waiting…
